Phoenix, AZ: Arizona Opera’s latest mounting of Carmen brings Daniela to both Tucson and Phoenix in her debut with the company. This production marks Daniela’s second outing as the fiery Carmencita, having sung it to great acclaim at The Santa Fe Opera in summer of 2014. Of those performances the Albuquerque Journal wrote, “Daniela Mack matches a bounty of rounded curves with her sultry mezzo voice, dark enough to be rebellious yet bright enough to keep the character constantly intriguing. One can easily believe her seducing Don Jose into abandoning all sense of duty. No one will be able to claim this isn’t the ‘real Carmen’ in either voice or appearance.” Performances kickoff on January 30th and run through February 7th, 2016.
Rounding out her musical appearances in Arizona, Daniela will also perform in a duet recital with Alek Shrader as part of the Tucson Desert Song Festival. At the piano will be Allen Perriello, head of music at Arizona Opera. The pair will be performing their favorite pieces including works by de Falla and Rossini, plus some Argentine songs and more. This event is one night only — February 2, 2016, in Crowder Hall at the University of Arizona School of Music, 7:30pm.
